来る８月１日、広島市内の叡啓大学において、『ジカ熱：ブラジル北東部の女性と医師の 物語』（奥田若菜・田口陽子訳、水声社、2019年）の著者で文化人類学者／フェミニスト 活動家のデボラ・ジニス氏が講演します。
2015年のブラジルでおきたジカ熱流行では、母子感染によって胎児に小頭症などの重い障 害が生じることが明らかになりました。流行から十年余を経た今年、記憶の風化に抗うた め、ジニス氏らはブラジル国内で［いまもなお（ainda）］と題する展示を組織しました。 小頭症の子どもを持った母親たちの記憶に焦点をあてた展示は大きな反響をよび、被害者 の救済に結びつこうとしています。
今回の講演でデボラ・ジニス氏は、［いまもなお］展が母親たちの記憶をどのように提示 したのか、その展示が何を揺さぶり、被害者に目を向けさせたのかをお話しします。また 講演会のあと、ブラジルでの展示を広島市内で再現した「［いまもなお］ブラジルのジカ 熱流行と母親たちの記憶展」の会場を、ジニス氏とともに訪問します。

[ainda] – Memories of Mothers and Zika in Brazil, Debora Diniz Talk and Exhibition

We are hosting a talk by Debora Diniz, a cultural anthropologist and feminist activist, at Eikei University of Hiroshima. The 2015 Zika outbreak in Brazil left serious consequences, including severe disabilities such as microcephaly in newborns caused by mother-to-child transmission. About a decade after the outbreak, Diniz and her colleagues organized a series of exhibitions in Brazil titled [ainda] (“still”). The exhibition, focusing on the memories of mothers with children affected by microcephaly, has drawn significant attention and is helping to secure government support.
In this talk, Diniz will narrate the background and consequences of the [ainda] exhibition. After the talk, we will visit the Hiroshima version of the exhibition, [ainda] – Memories of Mothers and Zika in Brazil, together with Diniz.
